INAUGURATION 2024
On 1st August 2023 the inauguration of the new scholastic year 2023-2025 was held. The Chief Guest for the function was Rev. Fr Januarius S Sangma, Provincial of the Province of Guwahati. Along with all the faculty members and students the programme had a colourful look.
The Principal gave a message urging all to commit themselves to the cause of education.
The Chief spoke on the importance of good teachers in our school system. The education scenario needs a lot of improvement and teachers can play a crucial role, he emphasized.
The programme was made charming through the cultural programme that was performed by the students.
The new batch of students also took oath to be good teachers .
The programme ended with refreshments for all.
“Health is Wealth” , and ‘There is No Wealth like Mental Health’! .On this note Don Bosco College of Teacher Education, Tura observed World Mental Health Day on the 10th of Oct’ 2022. The students of the B’Ed course , batch of 2022-24 participated in an awareness session , which underlined the seminal importance of Mental Health , and how the 21st century rush hour lives severely affected Mental health and well- being . Emphasis was also given on how stress, tension and anxiety can have an adverse impact on mental health . Informative Videos and PP presentation were part of the awareness session to familiarize students with issue of Mental Health and how it could be sustained through the 3 C’s – Contact , Converse and Communicate . The session ended with a pledge that – “Help is a talk away”.
Orientation Programme for B.Ed Students of 2022-24
On 18th August 2022, Don Bosco College of Teacher Education, Tura conducted an Orientation Programme for First Semester Students of Academic Session 2022-24 to familiarize them with the vision and mission of the Don Bosco Educational Society and acquaint them with the rules, regulations, code of ethics and behavioural guidelines.
The first session began with an assembly comprising of a motivational lecture on “Right Mind Set” and videos subsequently followed by a Bible reading session.
The second session familiarized the students with the facilities and amenities provided by the College along with academic inputs in Classroom Methodology.
The third session provided the students with Academic Calendar, Structure of the Curriculum and Content of the Syllabus.
Finally each student was given an opportunity to introduce oneself and the day concluded with an interactive session between the students and the faculty.
Inauguration of the B.Ed Session 2022-24
Don Bosco College of Teacher Education, Tura inaugurated its Academic Session with a modest welcoming session and a cultural programme.
The Principal officially welcomed the new students to the Academic Session 2022-24. The Principals of Don Bosco College and the Higher Secondary Section along with other dignitaries also motivated the students in their respective speeches.
The highlight of the programme was the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Januarius S Sangma, Salesian Provincial of the Guwahati Province who in his speech laced with both humour and wisdom underlined the importance of teamwork.
The Cultural Programme displaying the varied ethnicity of the Koch Dance and Bihu Dance performed by the students of Don Bosco College, Tura followed by a song by the teachers of Don Bosco College of Teacher Education kept the audience spell bound with their splendid
performances. The programme concluded with refreshments and interactions among those present.
Declamation/ Elocution Contest was held on 11th March from 1.40 pm – 3.15 pm.
There were eight participants.
two participants each from the four groups, one for poetry and one for prose.
The prize winners were:
1st – Harolyne K. Shadap – Nehru Group;
2nd – Wandana B. Marak – Kalam Group;
3rd – Benachi D. Marak – Nehru Group;
3rd – Sunita Marwein – Gandhi Group.
Dance Competition (Singles) was held on 22nd March 2016 at 2 pm. There were two participants each from the four groups. The following were the prize winners: 1st Prize – Lanachwa Phawa – Gandhi Group; 2nd Prize – Namrata Ghimire – Kalam Group; 3rd Prize – Harolyne K. Shadap – Nehru Group. Congrats to all prize winners and participants. It was surprising that some of the better known dancers did not participate in the competition.
